There is a little-known summer flight from Providence to Portugal operated by SATA with bookings via Azores Express. This is likely your best bet. From there, take Ryanair or another low-cost airline the rest of the way to France.

Also, consider going from Boston since you will have better chance of cheaper transatlantic flights; then, add low-cost flight hop to France if another city is coming up cheaper. I've seen decent fares on Boston-Shannon and Dublin, Ireland, as well as to Cologne, Germany and Manchester, England. Could add a cheap flight hop to France from one of those cities.

Different cities give us different prices. So, can you tell us from what city you wanna travel? Ah, in December there are at least two, or three fares depend on what date you want to travel - right after Xmas normally gives the lowest fare.

High season and late to get "cheap" tickets....should have bought them 3 to 4 mos. ago.

Go to a travel agency, and find out if they have some bulk seat (thru a counsolidator) or APEX fare still available (must be 3 weeks prior departure)

I don't know if Providence is your expected point of take-off. You might do better with flights from Boston or even NY airports.
