I'm afraid that I disagree entirely with the notion that our lives are just memories. When was the last time that you "memoried" a choice, every time that you make a choice, do you search your memory for it or do you make a choice from your perceptions of the present moment..?

We are where we are, our circumstances are just as they are because of choices that we made in the past, not the memories that we have of the past. If we are to enjoy a happier future wouldn't it therefore be preferable to make better choices...?

We cannot change the past, yet we can affect our future. Our Lives are not just memories. Our Lives are what we Live each day, each moment... make it count...make it a wise moment so that you do not regret it tomorrow....

Peace from a Buddhist....

This is an interesting perspective to take, and I appreciate it. I learned long ago that everything happens for a reason...that it is nothing more than one more piece in the jigsaw puzzle of our lives, and thus deserves our attention at the time and our forgiveness and forebearance in retrospect. After I adopted this attitude, my life became much easier and more carefree, and ultimately happier.

btw Our lives are more then just memories they are the mirrored reflection of the past through modern eyes and the foundation of the future in the past. (Or Something Like that)

What about when our actions affect others? I'd rather help create good memories than bad ones.

Eventually our lives are memories. But, in actuality, all we have is here and now. We can die in our memories or we can live in our now.
