2 Corinthians 4: 3 "If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God."

....no need to say anything else......

Your question is flawed, because atheists are the people who have actually thought it through.

I would ask, why do millions of people dedicate their lives to a belief system that can't hold up under any kind of serious inquiry, and who see inquiry itself as Satan trying to make inroads? This sounds like a very convenient way to avoid defending what can't be defended.

When you read the Bible, you might notice marsupials are never mentioned among all the other animals/beasts that are identified by name. This is because Australia had not been visited yet by the people who wrote the Bible. There's also no talk of microbes or anything of that nature, even in abstract terms that perhaps wouldn't be understood at the time, because humanity hadn't identified them yet.

Telescopes take incredible photos of outer space, yet these breathtaking realms are not mentioned as part of God's creation anywhere either. All that is described corresponds to what mankind knew at the time--even though the book's authors were supposedly spoken to directly by God.

The Bible describes various plagues and other huge events that don't appear in any secular historical records--and those records were being kept and some have survived.

The "voice" of God in the Bible sounds suspiciously like the voice of various authoritarian rulers who the writers of the Bible would have been familiar with.

I don't presume to know the origins of the universe, but from what science has very methodically discovered thus far (remember, scientists, unlike the Bible, could describe DNA and the double helix well before it was actually proven, through the development of theories), it's actually a lot more impressive than spontaneous creation by an apparently vengeful deity who will banish you to Hell if you don't abandon the brain he gave you and blindly follow the teachings of a book whose origins are suspect at best.

Most atheists only don't believe in a religious God or a limited God that most christians teach.
The real God which is our source of where we came from,
our father and intelligent designer which is not limited to a certain thought pattern; does exist and He has given us a free will to choose. And if we see the whole picture we will always make the right choice . He is love and we are his offspring which is why the bible says we are his sons and daughters. It doesn't mean just christians it means everybody!!
[which makes us a human brotherhood and equal]
Deep inside the conscience [so called atheists] are aware that such a God exists.
Quantum physics and true science even teaches us of such a God

You assume all Atheists have never studied the Bible? Most Atheists are some of the smartest minds on this planet who are not so easily lead into believing that an invisible man in the sky created the universe. I am not an Atheist but I did study the Bible for a year and a half and I don't believe anything in it other than it's accurate historical records.

Why would they pray if they don't believe in God? I did for a while asking him to give any proof of his existence so I could put my mind at ease about all of this. Guess what? No sign from him at all. And how do you know they haven't studied the bible? I've read it many times. I don't believe in things just because someone tells me. I look at the facts before I decide. And so far no one can prove God to me.

Edit: Just look at tebone0315 post

This a typical Christian excuse . And that's what irritates me with Christian's. Always an excuse. But never an answer to solve a problem.

Ummmm they're ATHEISTS! Who are they going to PRAY to? The Bible is a wrok of Fiction to an Atheist. So WHY, should they read and study a book that they find to be unbelievable?

A lot of atheists say they read the Bible and they don't find Proof that's why they don't believe BUT EVERY book in the Bible has Prophecy in it that's how you can tell it is truly Gods word and most of this prophecy has come true so what more PROOF do you need????????

And where do they believe we came from? We just appeared? We were evolved from monkeys? our existence came from a bunch of rocks? That to me seems pretty far fetched. I know the Bible is a lot to swallow too but I would rather believe in something that is going to get me to Heaven by believing in Nothing is not going to get you anywhere when you die you will be in Hell.

Why would atheists study the bible to see if god exists.?

the bible was create by people who believe in him.

so if someone wanted proof that god existed they wouldn't read the bible. they would try to use science and logical explanations.

its like saying that: IF YOU NEED PROOF THAT GOD IS REAL, READ MY BOOK ABOUT GOD THAT SAYS HE HIS REAL. THEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT HE IS REAL.

see. it doesn't really prove anything

Where are you getting your information from? Assumptions like that don't help anyone. Most atheists I know (including myself) know more about the bible and have studied it more than people who believe in God. Its ignorant things like what you said that create more atheists and fuel our beliefs (or lack of them as some would say)

Personally, I never believed in god, though I did try. I read the bible, I went to bible study and Sunday school, I sang in the choir, I taught bible school, I did all the right things and thought all the right thoughts.

But I always had questions... and the only answer I ever got was, "Have faith." For a budding mind, that's not good enough. If kids are asking questions, "have faith," is not going to do it.

So I read more... about other religions, trying to know god. I didn't believe in the devil or hell (how could a loving creator condemn his creations to burn for eternity if he REALLY loved them?). And I wasn't unhappy. Quite the contrary, I was very happy.

So now, many years later, I'm an atheist with a loving husband, charity work, school volunteering, a beautiful son and a wonderful life that I scraped, saved and worked hard for. No prayers were answered and no miracles happened.

I hear you and other Christians saying, "Then you didn't really TRY" or "How do you know that your husband and child aren't his way of answering your prayers?"

I guess I don't... but if he really wanted me to "hear" him, he'd speak to me. And he hasn't. And I tried.
