It doesn't really creep me out. It really just makes me sad. It's just so final and unbelievable. The reason why I hate open casket funerals are because I want my last image of that person to be an image of them alive. If seeing them lieing in a casket dead was the last time I saw them, that image stays with me for a long time and I try to forget it.

Honey, you can put roses inside, hug her, tuck a teddy bear inside the casket, do whatever you want to do and no one will say anything.
So very sorry about your loss. Do what you need to do to get through this and don't be afraid to ask people for help right now. Family and friends should be there for you when you need them.

You do whatever you want. When my Hubby's great grandfather passed we has buried with his favorite fishing pole and a bag of his favorite chewing tobacco, and then each of the pallbearers placed a white rose in the casket (they were either his grandson's or great grandson's). It was lovely.
This is a time when you need to rely on family and friends, and you do whatever makes you feel like you are honoring your mother.
I am sorry for your loss

It isn't inappropriate. I have seen coloured roses for each grandchild in a casket and white roses for deceased grandchildren. There have been AA madallions, teddy bears, Bibles anything the deceased person valued have been displayed.

Baby, you say goodbye anyway you feel is appropriate. I've seen the little ones throw pictures in the casket. So a rose is not only appropriate but an elegant way to say your goodbye.

When it is your mommy or any loved one for that matter I believe that you can do whatever you would like to do. it is about you and your relationship with her this is a time for you to do and say and greive in whatever way will serve you best. roses are sweet, and I think that anything else you decide to do will be just fine too. God bless you and your mother and your entire family. I am truly sorry about your loss.

No, it is not inappropriate to put any flowers (or anything you want to) inside your mother's casket.
I am sorry for the loss of your mother (if it is your mother you are speaking of).

I don't see why not.
It's your mum - I'm sure she would have been overjoyed to get them when she was living, so why not give her what you know she enjoyed in life as a parting gift in death?
White roses would be very beautiful I would think. And there is something about their purity that makes them appropriate.
