Music is purposefully organized sound comprised of rhythm, and/or melody and sometimes coordinated with lyrics. Music generally employs some kind of instrumentation whether it be something as natural as a voice, spoons or a washboard or a device manufactured specifically to create a certain sound.

Noise on the other hand is usually unorganized sound. But some people construe some music as noise while some noise can be music like the wind blowing through the trees. Music is in the ear of the listener just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

According to the dictionary, the primary distinguishing characteristic of music is purposeful construction. Practically speaking, however, it’s all subject to individual taste and judgment. To some listeners, even the most artfully devised harmonic creation may be perceived as apalling noise; think of the general public’s reaction to the first examples of Rock and Roll, or some of Philip Glass’s early pieces.

It's interesting to note that, just as a beautiful rosebush in the middle of a cornfield might be considered a weed , so too could Mozart’s most masterful symphony qualify as noise if it were to be played at an inappropriate time and place. All of this leads me to conclude that the fundamental difference between music and noise lies in the ear of the beholder.

They are both composed of the same elements but the difference is that the components in music are arranged in a sequence that the brain recognizes as meaningful sounds whereas noise has the sound components in a random way that hurts the brain. Noise, however, is far better than the music of some, don't you think?

It really does depend on who the listener is. Some of the great composer's music were considered noise when they had their first debut. Stravinsky's Rite of Spring comes to mind. There was rioting in the theater when that piece was first performed. Now its considered a great work.
John Cage (American composer) wrote a piece called 4'33" where not a single note of music is played. The music comes from the noise the audience is making while they are waiting for the performer to play!

noise would be something that would cause either irritation to you or it could simply be the usual sounds that you hear everyday. music on the other hand has a different meaning because it sometimes calms a person down or there's a purpose for the music, whether the lyrics are sad or happy or soothing. music is determined on the individual, sometimes one would hear music but consider it to be noise because it isn't of their interest. like the older generation wouldn't consider the rockstars of today to be something to listen to becuase they aren't used to that and would rather listen to oldies. the rock music would be a nosie to them.

To me the meaning's are interchangeable. Some would view certain types of music as "noise", like rap, or whining guitars.
The difference is in the eye of the beholder, or "listener" in this case...
hope this helped!

noise could anything. Hearing a person yell someone's name is noise, its not music. Music has some type of combination of flow, rhythm and beat.
