Legally recognised? What's that got to do with it?

I know it's a spoof religion but I can't see how that distinguishes it from Christianity or Islam, neither of which deserves any respect, in my opinion.

Really, I'm interested in the reasons Christians and Muslims think their religions deserve respect.

I live in a country which has no constitution: Only law and non-binding protocol. There are no constitutional rights as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, they should... they might think it's ridiculous, but we think they are ridiculous, so we deserve the same respect they demand from us.

Maybe the FSM can send a little meatball to earth and save Bobby Hill's and Bart Simpson's parody souls... Then Pastafarianism can have the respect it rightly deserves. Oh yeah, the non-violent protest deserves respect, too.

Only if it should become a legally recognized religion. As it is simply some sort of unfunny parody used to make some sort of point (which has ALWAYS escaped me...seems rather like a kindergartener made it up) I would find that highly unlikely. It's main function seems to be to get hits on it's wikipedia entry. I guess it's kind of like the "vote for the worst" thing on American Idol. Go Sanjaya!

You don't see the difference between a legally recognized religion and a spoof in regards to respect? There's no hope for you. Personally, I don't care a whit whether you respect our religion or not. Why would I? Your personal respect means absolutely nothing to me. What I DO care about is whether you respect our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to practice our legally recognized religions without harassment or persecution.

Christianity that expects respect is not the Christianity that is made up of those to whom Jesus said, in John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Sure if you truly believe in it....but im guessing none of you truly believe in a deity made of spaghetti so no. However, Christians and Muslims do truly believe in their faiths.
I probably shoudnt think its funny..but i really do =] I mean come on we're Christians but we still have a sense of humour! I dont take it seriously as an actual religion though. "Touched by his noodly appendage"....thats just funny!!
I'm secure enough in my faith to be able to take a joke.
God bless!
