What would happen to plants or animals in different enviromental conditions?

These organisms would have to adapt or die. If a tree from the rain forest is taken to the desert it would need to adapt the way it absorbs water and protects itself from too much sunlight or it would die. If a black bear is taken to the North pole to compete with white polar bears for food, the black bear would have to learn a new way to hide and a new way to hunt for food.
