They don't.

What they do is talk about the non-existence of God.

They hang around R&S because it would be a real snooze to hang around other atheists.

If I don't believe in Santa, why did I pretend he brought my son Christmas presents?
If I don't believe in the Easter bunny, why did I pretend he brought my son Easter eggs?
If I don't believe in the Tooth Fairy, why did I pretend she brought my son money?

I would answer, "for the fun of it" but I think it does run a little deeper than that, and I think a good example of a parallell would be "why are people still talking about the gods of ancient Greece?"- because they are, you know.

The answer is that you don't have to believe in something literally to find it interesting when it's a part of your cultural heritage that you learned as a child. It still speaks to you on a subconscious level for its mythic content. And the Greek gods, the Norse gods, whichever gods are still talked about although there are very few people who believe in any of them. Wouldn't it be a little odd if we didn't, considering it's a large part of our cultural baggage?

because it is the basis of our beliefs. That he does not exist. It comes up a lot because theists (due to the fact that they use religion to run their lives), if we let them, will use religion to run our country, our government and our politics. look at Bush, he is trying to run the country on a belief in god and what he believes god wants from him. It affects my daily life as an atheist. Hence i cannot avoid the god talk because people like Bush use it to justify their actions

Often people like that once believed in God and gave up on him in the past because of a number of bad experiences or just because they didn't notice he was there they talk about him cause some times some of them still have a little hope for a God and think that if they so often talk about him they will not all together forget about him.

(What I've noticed in some of my friends may not comply to you)

because belief in gods is one of the most serious problems facing our society today.

Theists, especially christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views. If all christians stop crusading against science, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.

If you promise me nobody will ever get hurt by religious belief again, I promise I'll never bring the subject up again.

in the meantime, read Letter to a Christian Nation. Email me if you don't have a copy handy.

because the word god stands for: Good Orderly Direction
even though they do not believe they still have to walk with
Good Orderly Direction, live in Good Orderly Direction and share there life in Good Orderly Direction,to still have that spiritual presence in theirself to live life on lifes terms in harmony,so really they are in a conflict in there own word.
this is were the difference between religion and spirituality
come into conflict.

They keep talking about Him because they have nothing else to do of any real interest. They are drawn to us Christians, so whether for good or evil, they will never be able to claim they did not hear the truth.

I'm here for many reasons... a *drink*… and:
- Interest.
- To learn.
- To teach.
- *TRUTH* MATTERS!
- Religion ... is ... Dangerous!
- Networking with atheists (new!)
- Religion affects each and every one of us.
- The Xian Bible advocates my death! <<<<<<<<
- The Xian Bible says: KILL 2/3’s of ALL humanity!
- R&S Theists can *grossly* misrepresent science.
- R&S Theists can *grossly* misrepresent atheism.
- Blatant discrimination up to the Government level.
- It’s an inalienable right, TYVM – get used to it!
- It's ABOUT R&S... NOT 'for' R&S.
- It's kind'a fun.

And From Y!A’s 5th Horseman:
Is asking, "Why do atheists care about religion?" like asking, "Why do peaceniks care about war?"
“Why do conservationists care about urban sprawl,
why do capitalists care about communism,
why do dietitians care about trans fats?”

And From Y!A’s New Dog Owner:
It was all well and good when you kept your superstitions to yourself, but when you began your campaign to tamper with science education, interfere with medical advances and tried to turn the U.S. into a nation of religious xenophobes it became clear that we needed to respond and not let your shallow and self serving interpretation of the bible run rough shod over the rest of the country.

Well then you used the wrong search words, we've seen this plenty of times before. http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_result;_ylt=ArRdvUP02rjcd6ykVpy4tW4jzKIX?p=atheists+talk+god+much

P.S. It's also possible that there are plenty more that you can't find because of how impossible it is for many people to figure out how to spell "atheist" right.
