I am doing geneaology research and one of my ancestors was from "Olive, FL". Never heard of it and can't find any reference to it other than the "community of Olive" in Pensacola. I live in Pensacola and have never heard of this "community". Anyone know of a website or database that gives info on "lost" cities?
Thanks!!

Interesting, me neither and I've lived here all my life. I suggest contacting the Pensacola Historical Society down near Seville Quarter/Square. Good luck

You might also want to look on mapquest. Even if they don't have it shown on a map, the site does appear to know of a lot of old village and towns that were dissolved or absorbed into a larger community. I've found several in my area that were absorbed into the larger city near where I live, or were simply unincorporated after time went by. I found Olive, Florida, which does appear to be in Pensacola, and included a link below.

If mapquest is unable to find the site, check with the state - they would know where the town was located. Also other genealogical services may be able to help you.

This is what I found. The first one you'll have to scroll til you find Florida.
Looks to me like it's out by the Pensacola Christian Community College.

You live there. Inquire at City Hall. It may have been absorbed into the tax base so that city services could be extended - and taxed for.
