I don't think they come from experiences at all. I think such stereotypes come from churches and religions that teach a dogma and forbid any questioning of the dogma. Therefore people are told what to believe and follow it blindly, without doing any further research or study and without the benefit of personal experience.

I think it is because if a bunch of folks do not like a particular group, and slander the group by saying that they are a particular way, and everyone who is uneducated about the group buys into the slander, then the group will be disenfranchised. It's a way of maintaining the status quo.

Stereotypes have a basis of truth,and can be used in a constructive manner.Christianity and religion are poles apart.And religion deserves all the negatives attributed to it.
