i want to install xp home.i have installation cd.do i need to remove windows2000 first?if so ,how do i format the system?or what needs to be done ? or do i just install xp and not worry about 2000 being on there?

When you start the Windows XP Home install, the setup will ask if you would like to format your hard drive. You can, if you don't intend to keep any of your exisiting files on that hard drive.

You should be able to insert the CD - restart - watch for the prompt to boot from CD and press enter. Wipe 2000 off of there.

Read this from Microsoft.

If it were me, I would backup any files you want to be sure to save to external storage.

Then, I would uninstall Win2000, Restart, then go for a clean XP install.
