Do you think students are taught to think in school?

Do you believe the public schools in the U.S. in general teach students to think for themselves, or do you believe they force students to accept everything they teach them?

Teachers have a strong influence on students, and the younger the student, the more easily he/she is persuaded in believing what's being taught. Teachers are supposed to teach facts and let the students form their own opinions, but many of them are biased and they try to convince students in believing their agenda. So, there is no actual forcing involved, but if you don't have a good grasp on the topic, you will more likely be influenced to think like your teacher.

I believe Students are like a sponge, they soak up the information that's most important to them. If the student doesn't feel like thinking then they won't learn. The teachers are there to teach the material. If their learning environment is good then it'll be a very good place for the students to think and understand what they're being taught.

it probably doesnt matter to the majority of students because most of them dont care and i think that the teachers should encourage the students to ask questions and to think for themselves

I personally believe that they teach them to memorize everything, not to think, but that's only my oppinion.

i was not born here but i have noticed that some exams given to school kids are open book.ofcourse this does not encourage thinking
