It is very high in iron so it is not to good for your kidneys and is will raise the iron level of the blood, which is bad for most men but not as harm full to women so it probably isn't as bad for you as the average north American diet.

I don't know what you mean by "potted" meat exactly. I would not buy any canned meat (is that what you mean?) to give them as these prepared meats are likely to be too salty or contain other things that wouldn't be good. You can certainly feed your cat raw meat, but the source of the meat should be either from an organic source, or supermarket meat would be ok so long as it's antibiotic free. Or you could look into the many varieties of commercially prepared raw meats designed for cats or dogs. Many of the better pet stores will carry these - brands such as Nature's Variety, Bravo, Companion..... Now, you can't just start plunking down raw meat for your cat to eat as a steady diet. That's a very very good diet for cats, but you must do your homework to ensure that the cat is receiving all the nutrients it needs. Raw meat alone isn't enough - they also need calcium from bones and whatever the heck is in organ meats.

Yes. I have read of cases where very poor senior citizens have been buying cat food because that's all they can afford on their Social Security, especially after paying for medicine.
Pretty sad state of affairs, isn't it?

try some of that fine cat food. it's good, especially microwaved. needs some salt though. you can add some onions, and try fry panning it, add some season salt, and serve it to a guest. great food for party guests, in-laws, loud neighbors, and any friends or family you would like to give some cat food. so yummy... yum yum. its purrrrrfect.

I tried the dry stuff once out of curiosity. It wasn't very tasty. It won't kill you but its not designed for human nutritional needs.
