I have a slingshot with wrist brace and 1/4" steel shot ammo as well as 1/2" steel shot ammo. I found the 1/4" much too hard too control. I've hit 5 or 6 rabbits, but never in the head or neck. I'm not sure if the ammo is actually penetrating or not, but the rabbits jump real high in the air, but only act injured for a few moments, and the ones with hurt legs can still limp off much faster than I can catch them. My questions are, where should I aim to kill a rabbit? and is my slingshot (says it shoots up to 400 yards) and my ammo capable of killing a rabbit with or without a head or neck shot?

I don't know what to tell you, I shot many rabbits as a kid with a slingshot and killed them at about 5 yards. I used small marbles. Maybe your shots are to heavy or your rubber bands are weak, you can get stronger bands for a slingshot

Good Luck and happy hunting

Just keep trying and aim for the head. I've seen people use slingshots on squirrels here in Michigan very effectively

Check your local game laws before you try this again. Slingshots weren't made for real hunting, just for target shooting. Pretty certain rabbit season isn't open in your area, and you'll need a license to hunt them.

The legality of a weapon is set by your state DNR. Since you have hit 5 or 6 and not killed any, you could be called an unethical hunter. If you can't make a quick and clean kill you need to stop what your doing. It isn't rabbit season anywhere in the northern hemisphere at this time.

Its possible, but do the humane thing and shoot them with a 22 Long Rifle*.... You will simply injure and cause pain and suffering to them if you continue using the slingshot on them*...

head shot will most certainly kill a rabbit.
sling shot ammo typically isn't made to penetrate. it's more for stunning.

Apparently not; since you don't seem to be having any luck.
