I'm in the Army and I totally agree with A-wood. we have a lot of choices and a lot of jobs. the biggest branch in the military. it's worth joining the Army there is a lot of pride. you can get a life time experiance and a ride you will never forget. the Navy they are not as thrilled. the Airforce they are chilling with no jobs and the Marines they only like to say Proud...but the bulldogs thats us the Army. :-) is the branch with the most benefits, promotions, active soldiers and enlisted soldiers.

I served in the Army, first in intelligence, winding up in the Pentagon. I worked in personnel, clerk-typist-courier, and lastly was a legal clerk in the J.A.G. office.
Most people think "Army" or "Marines" mean dumb people; they are no dumber than "Air Force" or "Navy", but they do have the reputation for being the ones to do the fighting. Of course!
The Army has boats; the Army has airplanes. They have MOS's (Military Occupational Specialties) in computers, accounting, personnel, you name it.
There are a lot of hassles; however, compared to a lot of civilitan jobs, it is less. They are less racist than civilians, more likely to support you and all that.
If you join, try to get the type of MOS you will like.

It all depends on what you want. Im currently in the Navy and have noticed that the Air Force and Navy offer a larger variety of job choices vs. Army,Marines, and Coast Gaurd

You don't want to join the Navy and Air Force. During WW1, WW2, Korea, and Vietnam they saw combat and I salute them. Now the Air Force and Navy do nothing. They are support elements for the true people risking their lives in Iraq and thats the soldiers and marines. If I meet a person in Navy and Air Force, I treat them like a civilian. Do something to be proud of. Air Force is going to start to get "Combat" badges for flying unmanned air vehicles while being stateside. The Navy has no threat in the sea, except for perhaps a hurricane.

I think so. Sure, some parts of the Army suck, but that's true of all jobs. And in the Army you get to do stuff you can't do anywhere else.
For the record, the Army has 212 military occupational specialties, which I think it more than any other branch.

well the army is a great experience, but like any other make sure you get as much of it as it gets out of you. take advantages of the g.i bill and the college tution and all the great programs it has to offer and make the best of your experiences. i was in for six years got a undergrad and masters degree while i was in, buti also went to war so i made the best out of serving my country i suggest if you decide to join you do the same.

If you don't mind dying or living the rest of your days in a vegetated state, or without arms and/or legs, then it might be worth it. Unless you have a family that loves you and wants you around for awhile, then it is not worth it.
