It could definitely be all those pain killers but you need to call her doctor or surgeon or pharmacy ASAP.

A lot of elderly people do not react well to the stress of surgery, anesthesia, and hospitalization. It's common for them to have delirium.

It could be any or all of the things that you mentioned. If she is still in the hospital, lether surgeon know, and they will probably have someone from psychiatry come by and see her. She may need some additional sedation while she is in the hospital, or she may need a change of mediation.

If she is home, call her surgeon and explain the problem. He/she may want her to come back in to be seen, or may change her meds.

A lot of older people do well at home, but when you mess up their daily routine, it throws them for a loop and they lose it.

This is something that needs to be worked out with her doctor.

Good luck to you and your Mom!

no count if it is your husband's gallbladder it incredibly is inflicting the priority, then removing it incredibly is going to thoroughly resolve the priority. i'm retired x-ray tech and can't start to allow you to comprehend how many circumstances i've got x-rayed a gallbladder! possibly 1000's. The radiologist can tell if the gallbladder is inflicting problems from those x-rays. So, if your healthcare expert is telling you the surgical operation will fix issues, you could almost assure that it will artwork. Your husband could have the skill to consume something after his surgical operation (after he's recuperated). in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, tell him a steak each and every so in many circumstances is okay yet he desires to computer screen his ldl cholesterol.

It's anybody's guess whether the illness, the anesthesia or the post-operative narcotics are causing the mental changes, but she'll probably get better in the next day or two in any case. Luck.

could be either one - or both
my mom always had a wretched reaction coming out of the anesthetic - and my grandmother was loopy on the pain meds after her gallbladder surgery, didn't remember any of it later though

I'll be thinking about your mom - best to her.
