Yes, you will get paid a starting salary. However, if you are employed with the department as a dispatcher or anything else you will earn more money at the academy. You will also find it easier to get through because you already know codes and preceders.

If you are hired by the Highway Patrol, you will be paid while
attending the academy. My brother paid his own way
through the Police Academy because it was easier to
get a job if that training had already been completed.

Arizona pays you to go to the academy I don't know what state you are in.

Most pay you while you attend academy. unless you are in police corp and they make you pay for everything!!
