Two mice of the same sex, by the way. LOL.

A 10 gallon would be OK for two female mice (2 males will fight). Make sure they have a wheel to get additional exercise, and huts and tubes to play in.

IMO? As big as possible. In the wild, mice have quite large territories and they spend a lot of time running around, patrolling it and foraging for food. There's no way we can give them the same amount of space in captivity, so we just do the best we can...

Levels (whether in a cage or aquarium, or just created by placing large toys or hanging toys in the tank) increase the floor surface of a mouse home. Keep in mind that adequate ventilation is very important, though (especially since mice are quite prone to respiratory problems). So if you use an aquarium, don't completely block off the only ventilation opening (the top)!

A tail-safe wheel is a Must Have toy for mice. They loooove running, and it is of course good exercise for them. Try to find a wheel that is somewhat quiet and their running shouldn't bother you too much.

Mice also love to climb, and are very good at it. Buy them some bird climbing toys (those wooden playground things are cute) and hang up a few of those tug-o-war thick rope things you can buy for dogs. Coconuts make great mouse nests to hang from the roof/side of their tank.

On the floor/levels, I use several plastic houses (if you're familiar with the toy... young mice look absolutely adorable poking their little nosies out of Hamtaro hamster's miniature pink-yellow house ;) and of course lots of empty cardboard boxes and tp rolls.

Give them some material to nest with, too. They love it. I give mine fabric scraps (removed and washed every day, I have a box full) and pages from old telephone books ("softer" than newspaper).

I hope this helps. :)

Enjoy your little meece. They make nice pets. Very friendly and inquisitive (provided you get them from a breeder who has spent some time socializing/handling them when they were younger, of course).

Greetz.

Probably not all that big. The trick is to clean it often! Mice aren't very good about their waste. Regular newspaper suffices, says my vet.

You might consider upgrading to rats in the future, they're smarter, cleaner, and more fun than mice. RATS FTW!

Mice aren't that big so I would think 10 gallon would be the minimum... they might like a 55 gallon though so they could live large.
Could you imagine? A 55 gallon would be like a mouse mansion! :D

A 15-20 gallon should be sufficient (as long as they are the same sex).

A 10 gal is fine just as long as you have a good top on it. Dont use pine or ceader shaveings its not good for them. Use care fresh or corncob bedding. i breed Fancy dumbo rats and thats what I use.
