Just like in any other post. People always assume it's Mexican asking this question. Only shows and proves how ignorant Americans really are. How pathetic!

It is not unfair, you are in an English speaking country. English is the national language of the USA. Get over yourself if you want to live in an English speaking country, learn English. If I wanted to go to Mexico (highly unlikely) then I would learn Spanish. By the way how many Mexicans learn/speak English if they live in Mexico?

Common courtesy ?

It is not that much to ask - you want to live in a country other than the one you are a citizen of .
The same can be said of immigrating to Japan , Russia , Switzerland, Norway, Egypt or Poland............

Why is it only America everyone has a problem with?
Could it be the fact those other countries have strict immigration laws and enforce them but no one cares or is it just easier to whine about a problem instead of learning a language?

First of all, your language is not the only language foreign to Americans.

To be fair, Americans would have to learn to speak all the languages spoken in America.

Quite a large task.

The other side of the coin is the concept of freedom of choice.

I personally would be interested in learning a new language but not for the purpose of accommodating someone who thinks the world owes them something.

You should not. Learn English if you think it will benefit your life personally (employment, business, social, etc.). If you do not think it will make your life easier and/or better do not do it. One thing to consider though. English is now the global language. It is the language of commerce and information. I lived in Malaysia (Borneo -Sarawak) for over 3 years and they spoke better English there than I do (Queen's English). Most people I talked to, even in the Jungle, understood me because of English Language-i.e. American-TV programs. I learned Malay because there were some things that it did not translate well into English. I learned half hazardly with no structure. The main thing i want to say to you is that you should learn what you think will benefit YOUR life and the hell with what others think. Life is too short to always do what others expect and/or require.

You sound foolish. As the saying goes, " When in Rome do as the Romans do". Your disrespect for America is showing

Didn't you know before you came here that the language of America is English?

Why would you have any objection to learning the language of your host country, especially since you intend to stay here?

Your arrogance and disrespect for the American culture is offensive. And for this, we hate you back.

will you pay for all the services that must be provided for you in your language? will you pay for the language classes to teach all of us your language since you came to a country uninvited knowing that its an English speaking country? if i go to your country will you learn my language because i don't want to learn whatever you speak? you probably said no to all of those so do us a favor just learn the language because your disrespecting a nation when you decide your too lazy to come to a country and not learn its language.

Look, english is the main language in the United States, just as Spanish is in Mexico, or italian in Italy. Every country has its own language, if your gonna live in the U.S. you gotta know english, cause when the day comes when you need help and you dont know english your gonna get boned. Just like someone in mexico that cant speak spanish, theyre gonna be boned when they need help. That just the way it is, I mean im bilingual, but i speak mostly english. It might seem racial to you, but its not.

Are you really illegal or are you just trying to encourage Mexican hate.

If you really were illegal then you wouldn't have asked this question.

Our people knew the consequences and risks when we crossed over illegal or not. We knew we had to learn english. AND the REAL hispanics have worked hard to achieve a better life we never expected it to be easy.

No ves mexicanos pidiendo dinero en la calle;
los miras trabajando duro por sus familias;
Si debemos aprender Ingles aprenderemos ingles
Ya sabemos que no todo es justo

Im an immigrant and Im proud OF THE THINGS THAT I HOPE TO ACHIEVE AND OF BEING WERE I AM FROM

DONT GIVE OUR PEOPLE AN IGNORANT REPUTATION AS WE ARE NOT LIKE THAT
