beneficial?
Personally, I think that the cell phone ban has made in less safe. Now when dialing, you are sneaky about it and taking ur eyes off the road longer because you keep the phone out of sight. Then in addition to having the distraction of being on the phone, you are now distracted because you are looking out for police officers.
Now, I was one to always pull over and use the phone even before the law, because I do find it distracting, but when I didn't, I think I was much safer then I do it now.

Anyway I was just curious if this law was beneficial because if so, then they need to concider ipod laws. When I first got that thing and didn't know what I was doing I prayed for my life and others as I tried to drive and work the ipod. Eventually I got tired of it and just stopped using it, but I see it as a danger as well.

You are in control of two plus tons of metal moving at speed, any speed. Why would anyone even consider using any device that may distract. I don't believe that a whole hell of a lot of drivers take all this into consideration. No conversation, no need for music, is more important than paying attention the road and others around you. Kill or hurt yourself, I don't care all that much, but leave me and and my family out of the equation.

I have a blue tooth and voice activation on my phone. Most truckers are out of luck. Employers are not putting the headset with the phone. The website I saw states the law is not "operable" until July 1, 2008 in CA.

I will agree with you they are definitly just as dangerous. Have not heard if the ban is really working. I have had several near misses with cell users that just don't get it.
