I have about 20,000 NWA miles that I want to transfer to Delta. Is this possible to do so that I can get a free ticket sooner? OR, would it be better to do the opposite and transfer my Delta Skymiles to NWA?

From my experience this kind of thing is not possible; however airlines rules are always changing so you should talk directly to Northwest and Delta to see what their program rules are.

Because both of these airlines are part of the Skyteam airline alliance, you can redeem your NWA miles on Delta but I don't think you can transfer them nor can you put the Delta and Northwest miles together to get a free flight.

Here is a link to an article (a bit old, so best to check out any info) that gives suggestions on possibilities for transfering as well as other options for mile accummulation and redemption.

Again, best to call the program operators directly to see what current regulations allow.

You might be able to as they are part of the SkyTeam Airline Alliance. You might be able to find your answer on the airline's website and the skyteam website. But everyone knows that Delta has the crappiest flyer program.
