My friend and her boyfriend had temporary restraining orders placed on both of them to stay away from each other. This was 2 or 3 years ago. Anyway they have gotten back together and he hits her and she wont call the cops because she's afraid she will get arrested too if she calls the cops. And can she call the cops on him even if she doesnt have any bruises or anything, or will they both get arrested

This is how it works in the county I live in. Temporary restraining orders are typically only good for 15 days. To make a temporary restraining order permanent or to extend it's validity you must go back to court. Again this is how it works where I live.

Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs) are only in effect until a court hearing is held to either make it permanent or dismiss it. Generally 30 days is the max for a TRO. A permanent restraining order (RO)can go as long as 6 years now. One other term Emergency Protective Order (EPO) is used fo orders that last 7 days only, these are the ones cops give to abused women so they have time to move out and get a TRO.

Some orders allow peaceful contact, it all depends on how the order is written, if it is a mutual stay away, then YES they both will be arrested (probably issues a ticket).

The exact time may vary by location. 30 days is normal. In any case, the order itself will state when it expires. If in doubt, contact the court that issued the order. They will have records of the order and when it expires.
After 2 years, if the order is still in place, it was NOT temporary.

Yes, it lasts 21 days, but it can be renewed an infinite number of times. If you send her a text and she complains, you go to jail. Move on. She's just not that into you.
