His main mission was to spread God's word and save us by sacrificing himself on the cross.

To end the separation between God and humanity caused by sin.
In the Old Testemant blood sacrifices (animals) were used to attone for sins and gain forgiveness from the Father. God created rules (Ten Commandments) and doctrine (see Leviticaus) to help guide His people to favor with Him. The people continued to mess up and anger God over a long period of time so God sent his Son (Christ) as a human manifestation of Himself to the earth as a pure and "sinless" sacrifice to:
1.) Teach the world to seek the Father (God) and build a loving and true relationship with God through his disciples and teachings.
2.) To do the Father's will on Earth; miracles, exorcisms, and seeking out those who God sent him to help.
3.) To die on the cross as an utimate sacrifice. God's only Son. Which would not only end our need to make blood sacrifices every time we sinned but also allow us a way to communicate with the Father and bridge the gap created by our human nature to sin.
That was His mission.
Our mission, according to Jesus, is accept him as our Savior (the sacrifice for our sins) and work hard to build a true loving relationship with God. Through that (loving, listening and obedience to God's will) we can find our individual missions and be a Glory to God on earth and eventually in Heaven.

To save everyone that wants to accept his love and grace and give them an eternal life. As in 1st Corinthians15;55
it states,,,,Oh grave where is thy sting.
Gog made the human body not to wear out. Ever. But when sin was comited in the garden of Eden it caused men to die.
Thats the price we pay for sin.
But if you accept Christ you pass on to Gods loving hands.
God loves you so let him enter your heart and and the change in your life will make you a very satisfied person.

I truly believe that His mission is to tell His followers to spread the "good news" and bring as many to Him as possible. However, this needs to be done with gentleness. Christians SHOULD not be pushing their faith in the faces of others, but rather loving them just as Christ did in hopes they we see how good He is.
"Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
~1 Peter 2:12 (New International Version)~
Oh yeah, and to sacrifice Himself, so that those who choose to believe in Him have everlasting life.

His mission is to bring everyone to Him and save all of us from eternal death by us accepting Him and believing in Him. Also, His mission is to improve on people who are already Christians by giving them opportunities to follow the path of goodness.
