I had a volunteer position for 3 whole years and I did it every single day just like a real job, only it wasn't paid. Do you think I could put it under the "Work Experience" area of my resume?

I would. It shows you have alot to give of yourself if you did it every single day for 3 years without pay. It also accounts for 3 years of your life.

The interviewer may ask why you didn't have a paid position, so have an answer ready.

Speaking as a previous employer - YES

Employers like to know what youve been doing, what kind of experience you've got...If you've volunteered someplace definitely put it down, and also express what you did, were reponsible for, etc. Provide a contact name just like you would for any 'supervisor' of a paid job.

Good Luck!

yes because that's where you learned some skills that are valuable in the workplace. I would also contact the volunteer coordinator and get a recommendation.
