Way back then, most men wore beards and their hair longer. It was the fashion/custom of the times.

Shaving the beard was illegal according to the Law of Moses.
Actually, to my knowledge, the Gospels, indeed the NT, doesn't say anything about Jesus' beard. We can assume he had one because all Jewish men had them. (See comment above.) You're probably thinking of all those portraits of Jesus, all of them from artists' imaginations.

Jesus was born, raised and lived as a Jewish man and following in tradition he was expected to have a beard.

Where in the Bible does it say Jesus had a beard? That's an artist interpretation, though perhaps based in part on the idea that Jesus (assuming he even existed) was from a Jewish family.

It was part of the customs. The Egypptians hated hair. The Israelites new who there brothers was by there beards, if they did not have hair than they were eqyptians.

Yeah. He could have shaved with a framing chisel. A drawknife. A putty knife rubbed on a stone. But I think it had to do with Jewish tradition.
