Actually it makes me kind of mad too I gotta say... I wish Al Gore would just stay out of it, he knows nothing and is now being used as an excuse for people not to acknowledge global warming. A concert to save the world... that's great but doesn't really do anything does it? In fact it's really just a massive waste of resources on an unproductive event.
Why won't Al Gore do something that would make a difference like investing and attracting investment in geothermal power if he actually wants to help?
Don't get me wrong, I've seen and understood the evidence of manmade global warming (which is about as strong as it can possibly be, deniers of it simply aren't examing the evidence objectively at this point) but I don't think that Al Gore is doing anything to prevent it, I think he's just being an ineffectual figurehead that does more harm than good to the increasing movement to solve this problem.

It is making me mad because its so hypocritical. It seems to me that liberals who are always trying to stand up for civil rights should be balking about how racist and discriminatory a carbon tax would be on the poor and working poor, and how if you are rich like Al Gore you can just buy credits to offset your wasteful living. The people who would really pay are the poor who can't afford to get to work.
If you REALLY want to save the earth, STAY HOME! Plant a garden! Grow your own food! Spend less on travel and more on helping your own community to be a better place! I read today that Oprah claims to be green because she uses a fabric shopping bag. Wow. The moviestars, rockstars and politicians who whine on about how "green" they are while jetsetting around the earth and getting lots of publicity for it are more harmful to the environment than most of us.
Its about as green as people driving on Earth Day. Doesn't make sense.
Want to see someone who REALLY cares about the earth, and proves it by the way they live each and every day? Study the Mennonites and Amish. Don't hop in your car and drive two states away to look at them, read about the way they live. They are the ones we should be looking to about saving the planet. You won't hear a hypocritical word about carbon footprints, but you will see hard working, community minded people who sustain themselves within a small geographic area, and literally don't waste a thing.

It is not a matter that the Live Earth Concert makes conservatives mad.
The issue is not even limited to conservatives.
It is more a question of the absurdity of all of this.
Anyone with an IQ over 30 is puzzling at the ridiculousness of the amounts of fossil fuel that are being squandered by a bunch of pretentious nitwits who are scolding us because they say that we use too much fossil fuel to go to and from work and raise our families.
It is an issue of the ridiculous amounts of fossil fuels used by all of the jets to get the performers where they are going and the ridiculous amounts of fossil fuel used to transport the band equipment.
These performers live in huge mansions that use over ten times the amount of energy as a family of four.
They fly in their own private jets or someone else's private jet that uses over 1,000 times the amount of fossil fuel per mile traveled as the most wasteful SUV.
These incompetent clowns have a lot of nerve to squander the ridiculous amounts of fossil fuels they squander and then have the nerve to lecture us that we are not doing enough to conserve energy.
This is absolutely ridiculous.

It's because Al Gore is a hypocrite who eats meat (which apparently is worse than cars), drives an SUV (which apparently is bad) and uses an enormous amount of energy at his own home. All while telling US how to live. What part of that don't you seem to understand?

Because they are trying to promote their liberal ways under the guise of environmentalism. I'm in favor of conservation and I am a conservative. Don't try to make the environment a political thing. It affects all of us regardless of morals and ethics.

I am very pro-environment, but I wonder how effective these concerts are going to be. The Live Aid concerts were a bunch of hype and no substantive action. This is true for the One campaign also.

Conservatives are just mad because they suck so much. And they think that everyone is a hypocrite, because they have absolutely no concept of "every little bit helps" So in their simple minds, if you cant do it all you should set on your lazy azz and do nothing like they do.
