My husband loves beer and loves doing things himself, so I want to get him a beer machine for his birthday. Problem is,
I don't know which one to get him!
Usually, you get what you pay for. But I want some real feedback. Any suggestions?

Depends on what you want to spend. If he is interested in making home brew and willing to pay about 100 bucks for the start up, it's pretty easy to do.

I would check a site like Bier Haus International or E.C.Kraus.com. I made beer for about 6 years and the product is good but very different from what a factory light Pilsner tastes like. It can also be very high in calories although they do make "Lite" mixes.

The main concern is where he will make the beer. If you have a basement, that's great. If not, you'll have to give up a small room but a basement with sinks nearby is the best bet.

Good luck. It can be alot of fun.

Any suggestion about going to a local homebrew supply shop is right-on. Online shops can serve you well also. These types of kits a generally easy and produce a unique beer. Make sure you video his efforts it will be fun to watch when you are drinking the final product.

DO NOT buy the thing they sell as a beer machine. They make a very poor product.

What do you mean, beer machine? A keg; or a kit to make it? Stay away from kits; instead get him a good book on brewing if that is what you had in mind.

I don't think there is a "beer machine". Do you mean a home brew kit where he can brew his own beer? You can order such things on-line or you can search around for the different parts you'll need for it and cobble it together.

they do make little kits that will fit in the fridge that you can find on ebay, or for about $100 bucks you can get the equipment to brew in 5 gallon batches, you can order that stuff from ebay as well, or google homebrewing and you'll find lots of info and places to buy equipment and supplies. i'd go with the little fridge one first just to see if he likes it or is interested. i find it to be a very rewarding hobby.
