The social aspect! It is easy to meet people you can hang out with. You are probably asking the wrong person to convince you though since I got burned by religion I stay away from church now! I miss the social side still

I don't think you should be 'convinced'. Spiritual beliefs should come from the heart, so any actions you display should come from your own motivation. I feel trying to 'convince' someone is wrong for a Christian, or any religious belief, to do. If this issue really interests you, ask other people why they go. The anwser that strikes your heart...the one that makes you feel better, and uplifted, and enticing to you. The one that feels calming to your soul and the one that strikes you as 'true' on a level that you cannot explain......there is your answer. Yes, I go. Not because I have to because its a rule, not because someone else expects it of me, not to see others for social yearnings. I have other reasons. And if you go....find yours.

If you are going on sunday there is no point. The bible does not support a sunday church. However
let the bible speak.

This is a commandment from God. one of the first five of the royal law to honor God, The second 5 is to honor your fellow man(man and woman)

to me, very little
i dont go to church, i just read and listen to radio and watch religious programs

there is one thing or one advantage if u go to church, u will feel the spirituality there and maybe the day after doing there

the problem is u will also be exposed to the negative elements, for example , if active members or the leader himself is seen as, or has some questionable or controversial life activities, u know what i mean, u will be affected spiritualy
those pastors are humans and u will have the tendency to look at them as models when u go to church

The only point in going to church is if you feel you're getting something out of it. If it gives you comfort or makes you feel good, fine. I think many people go so other people see them go, so they can say they go to church, and they believe this somehow makes them superior to those who choose not to waste their time that way.

Hebrews, Chapter 10, vs25: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching

It reinforces and explains lessons that are necessary for spiritual growth

How are you going to be fed the word of God ? How are you serving him ? Where are your tithes going ? Hebrews 10:25 " Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together , as the manner of some is ,but exhorting one another ; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching ".

It all depends upon where you are at in life. If you are not a Christian then the point would be to find out what Christians are taught and what they believe. If you are a Christian you go to church to worship God, to be edified by the sermon, and to fellowship with other Christians.

Maybe people are so dense that they can't understand the bible so they have to have someone explain it to them? Or maybe they can't read at all. Not very convincing huh?
Here come the thumbs down, but I don't really care. This is something I have wondered since I read the bible many years ago.

The Preacher knows way way WAY more about the Bible than you. You might learn something you need to understand or discover something you'd never know, otherwise. You learn more about the God you worship and mingle with other Christian friends. It helps you grow. If you don't go, you'd only be eating little and you'd be starving yourself. You need lots of meat.
