I had mine taken out when I was 30. Everything went well after I got home. That's when the pain started. Take the pain killers they give you. And keep refrigerated water at hand. Very cold. Because once it hurts drinking things that are very cold calms the pain. While the liquid runs down your throat. Also chew on ice. It'll feel nice and cool. Don't worry about waking up these are professionals they know what they're doing. I imagine your doctor is a throat ear and nose specialist. That's the kind of doctor that operated on me. You'll be fine. Best of luck to you.

If you woke up during the operation, then I think you need to transfer to another hospital...seriously. And you will wake up after the operation, there's no question about that. Why? Because with the technology we have these days, things are MUCH safer than before. And many people have had to go through this same operation, getting your tonsils taken out is very common. Just like getting your appendix taken out.
It's not like you're getting a Siamese twin detached from you or anything, so just calm down...and try to get your mind off of it.

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.
Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

Everyone reacts to anesthesia differently. Both my sister and I had our tonsils removed when we were around 20 years old. She woke up and was puking the whole day from the anesthesia, but I woke up and was starving and immediately wanted food. Sure it will hurt, but they give you plenty of pain medication to help you through about a week or two, and by then it doesn't hurt very much anyway. As for not waking up afterwards...that's a risk with every surgery, but it is extremely rare, as is waking up during the procedure.
Good luck.

Not to worry. Everything will go fine. My daughter had them taken out, and she did fine. You're a little groggy, really sleepy when you first wake up. You'll be a little disoriented, and won't know where you are, because you will be sleeping so deep from the medicine. I won't lie. You will be sore BUT they will give you medicine, and in a couple days, you'll feel 100% better. All the ice cream you want! Ask for sherbert, it's much colder. And drink stuff like chocolate Boost for meals if you can't swallow too well.
Good luck. It will be over before you know it. You'll be fine. =)

Hey, I understand. Don't worry though!! You won't wake up in the middle of it. Before you go in, you will meet the anestiestologist. His entire job is to make sure he gives you just the right amount of gas according to your vital signs. He will be there watching and making sure you are fine the ENTIRE time. He gives you just the right amount so there isn't a risk of you not waking up or waking up in the middle.
Also, you will be a little sore BUT eat some ice cream and it should numb your throat. The doctors encourage it!!
You will be just fine.

I was 14 when I had my tonsils removed. It is a scary feeling I know. But it went just fine for me. It did hurt afterwards, but the pain medicine they gave me was really good. Just eat lots of ice cream and jello and relaxe. Everything will go just fine.

You'll be fine. It will hurt after the operation, but you'll get to eat a LOT of ice cream, which helps speeds the healing process.
