If you want my honest opinion, I would wait till 8 weeks. I'm a former dog groomer of 11 years. Six weeks is still a little young, not by much, but waiting two weeks is not going to hurt you and it might help the dog.
Something else to consider along the grooming lines, get it started grooming as soon as possible. The puppy will be doing it throughout it's life and it needs to start the training as soon as possible. You wouldn't wait until it was six months old to potty training, I wouldn't wait till then to get it into grooming training.

The general rule of thumb is 8 weeks is the earliest. It does depend however if the puppy is still nursing. Taking the puppy away to early can cause problems. I would research where you plan to get this puppy. You want to make sure its not from a puppy mill. Puppy mill dogs have serious health problems and can cost HUGE is vet bills. Like someon else said, a reputable breeder will not release a puppy before it has been weened properly from nursing which is usually 8-12 weeks.

anything under 8 weeks is too early. you want to wait until the pup is 8 weeks, that's about the time they start to ween away from their mother. if the pup has no mother for some reason or cant have access to the mother, then that would be fine at 6 weeks, just feed him wet dog food

most ethical breeders say 8 weeks at the earliest and if VERY small, will not let one under 2 lbs go before 10-12 wks or reaching two lbs. they may be weaned at 6 wks., but it doesn't mean they should be separated from mom and littermates. that said, some breeders certainly do sell them at that age. soooooo young for them to be left alone. hopefully u have time to be with the pup and not work or go to class, etc. :( Breeders letting litters go this early, can bypass putting more expenses in to the pups & pass that on to buyers. Be careful and research the breeder, u interview them to purchase a pup, not just them interviewing you, to allow u to purchase. good luck!

Puppies should stay with their mother until at least eight weeks of age. They should also have had their first shot before leaving home. Keep in mind that one shot does not provide full immunity so even at eight weeks you should keep your puppy away from other dogs or parks, etc. Many good breeders do not let toy breed puppies go under the age of twelve weeks because they are very fragile. By twelve weeks of age they are much stronger and should have had two puppy shots.

No, a baby pup can not be seperated form its mother until at leats 3-4 weeks. Six weeks is perfectly fine. Just check with a local vet or pet shop owner. But, no, you can get your yorkie!
Good luck with it!

Yes it too early, puppies need to nurse with their mother for at least 8 weeks, so 8-12 weeks is a good time.

Yes. A pup shouldn't be separated from his mom until he is at least 8-12 weeks old. If not, you might have a nut case on your hands.

That sounds way too young to me. I would wait until at least 8 weeks to get a small breed puppy. Small breeds are also prone to by hypoglycemic and can die very rapidly if you don't know the signs or proper treatment. I would wait a while before getting one this young.
