Why are people being so mean to me for asking questions in pure honesty? I don't want to say christains either because some have been very nice and understanding of my youthful curiosity.

But some of you....how can you say you are passing on the word of god when you ridicule questions, promote hate, and turn your back on a different part of the world?

I am not a Christian, obviously, but there are many other young like me who recieve mixed messages about your doctrine when the Bible, as well as so many preach goodness. Yet, there are so many hypocrits who would be served well by living by their own "supposed" doctrine.

Instead of committing and repenting for sin, why not try to eliminate it all forever.

"All humans sin......"

Yeah, you are probably right, but that is only because no one has made it through life without sinning before....

Why accept mediocricy? Why be the helpless creatures that ate the apple so many years ago? God gave you free will! Use it!!!

Fear. Fear motivates most terrible behavior. If you never feel secure in your relationship with God and you don't know enough to defend the religious doctrine that you spit out at people then, most of the time, you lash out. Humanity tends to fear the unknown and when we fear stuff we try to destroy it. There is a notable difference between a devout believer and a devout zealot and once you can discern one from the other you'll learn to ignore the ones that speak in platatudes and pure doctrine.

Healing and redemption were two of Jesus' main focuses for those in need. If someone was truly looking for God and asking in earnestness for help, he would reach out to them.

With that said... free will means that everyone makes their own decisions and those decisions affect the extent to which they can be helped. If you give a homeless man a million dollars and he spends it all in a month and is back on the street; Do you continue to give him money and watch him throw it away? What if he doesn't want to learn to invest, work, or function in society? At what point do you stop fighting that battle and begin searching for people that do? Do you feel sorry for him because you couldn't help him or because he doesn't want to be helped? It becomes a pretty blurry line between helping someone else and hurting yourself and you're forced to make a tough decision. If many Christians have trouble drawing those kinds of lines on things that are contrary to their own lifestyle / social choices then how will they react when they are confronted by people and things that are completely contrary to their spiritual beliefs? Most just ignore it. It's a lot easier to pick and choose what you'd like to see rather than confronting it. A majority of the rest take the position of zealous threatening and condemnation as a self rightous cure-all. "If I tell it that it's wrong then I can't be held accountable for it!"

If people would shut up and start listening to God (instead of trying to force change through threats and guilt trips) then He would find a way to position people in places where they could make a real difference in the world. Plain and simple, if God has a plan for everyone on this planet. We should be looking for it. Wasting energy on walking the paths of others, better equipped to do the jobs we're trying to do, is both meaningless and destructive.

As for "sin". There are sins and there are errors. A sin separates you from God and an error is just a lapse in judgement. At some point in all of our lives we will participate in both. The key to change as a person is a true relationship with God. Jesus lived and died to show us the way and his sacrifice opened the door so that the void that previously separated us could be bridged. Mediocrity comes when we choose to accept Salvation as the be all / end all of faith. In a real relationship you fix the things that hurt the other person and work to build better bonds and communication. God is no different. If you REALLY love Him then you don't want to hurt Him. Apologies only count for so much. Your actions and intent define your character.

Hope this helps. You have really great questions and points. God bless.

Mean people suck.

I think that some folks believe that if they don't 'promote' and to an unwarrantable degree defend their beliefs to others, they're not a good 'whatever-they-are'. It is ironic that religion can be filled with so much hate and discrimination - it can be a 'missing the forest for the trees' scenario for some. Unfortunately some of these people practice 'selective worship' where they pick out what serves their purpose the best and disregard the basic laws of humanity.

It's good that you see this now :) You can make a difference, though. Set the example. Be what you believe. If they judge you or are mean to you because you are asking sincere questions regarding their beliefs without attacking them, just tell them to 'Practice what you preach'.

Good luck :)

The problem with mankind is that every single person is always right and everyone else is always wrong when it comes to the various groups of organized religions. This is the root and heart of all evil and the number one reason why we have the problems that we have here today in the world. Organized religions have and always will create wars amongst each other. Everyone is always passing judgment upon each other where this task and right is only given to God and no one else. Mankind is never ever allowed to pass judgment for this is a sin upon itself. Mankind’s role in the land of the living is to assist his or her fellow human being and to live in harmony and peace. If only the world was more accepting of other cultures and ideas, the world would be a much better place. I hope this helps. Best Regards, M.G.S.

I'm extremely sorry that people have been mean to you for asking questions...especially those who call themselves Christians. Christians are commanded to love everyone just as Christ loved...and that means EVERYONE: murderers, adulterers, slanderers, thieves, prostitutes, homosexuals, etc. So many Christians feel it's their duty to judge and condemn others who don't share their beliefs, but it really is NOT their place to do so. And a lot of Christians have this "holier than thou art" attitude, which totally makes me understand why so many are turned off by Christianity. This is not the way God intended for things to be. I just pray that you can recognize that Christians are human and as a result we'll make mistakes. I also pray that you'll take into consideration that, "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven."

First ,I would like to congratulate you for being a believer. I understand being a believer is difficult enough but, to be a young believer in today's society is especially difficult. Unfortunately some people act out of ignorance rather than humility as GOD teaches us. Your questions maybe intimidating (especially to older people) because when we live a little we are suppose to gain knowledge. However, not everyone matures spiritually. Your questions are knowledge and understanding in seed form waiting to take root , so when you ask your questions people may snap at you because they themselves do not understand. They will say things like" how can someone so young think in those channels "(as my great-aunt use to say to me) . My advice to you is to read the word of GOD ,study natural life and spiritual life keep on living and keep on being curious and in time your questions will be answered.

No one in this world truly knows how to love. I apologize for them. Many are still learning.

FYI, Hypocrites will get it worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. It says so in the Golden Rule Book.

There are a lot around these parts, as well as anywhere else. It is just easier to get frustrations out when one can hide behind the computer screen. This includes both 'sides.'

Yes all humans do sin, but that is not an excuse for people being mean. I am a Christian and I try to watch my behavior especially around unbelievers because no matter how much good a Christian does, if they happen to be seen angry one day or something people are quick to call us hypocrites. Being mean and ungodly does send mixed messages, so as a Christian i apologize for those mean Christians you have encountered and I hope you encounter more that strive to live like Christ.

Some people (like me) do not like to be preached at by extremists. Consider this: all of the 911 hijackers were all members of an extreme FUNDAMENTALIST religion, most true Muslims actually condemned the attacks.
As for why other people are so mean... they probably don't know proper on-line etiquette. If I argue with you I still respect your opinion - I just love playing devil's advocate.

All are born into sin, you can't live on this earth without sinning. That's why Jesus came down and died for our sins, so that we might live forever with him. Salvation is the free gift of God. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. No one can boast that they did anything at all to be saved. Only belief in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior will keep you out of hell, because if you are not covered in His blood you will be found guilty of all your sins and you will receive your just reward, which is eternity in Hell.

Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.
