I'm meeting my boyfriend' of seven months mom and dad for the first time. They are coming to Oregon from Arizona. We are going to meet at a restaurant. Isn't it appropriate to bring something for his mum, and if so, what's appropriate considering she's away from home for six weeks? I would love any advice.

Flowers, candy. Tickets to some touristy thing for the 4 of you. Or even a small booklet of 'things to do in Oregon' made by you toward their personal tastes. Anything to show you care for their son, so you care for them.

I was going to say flowers, until I read your details.

No, don't bring a thing; just be charming.
