It is in fact THE most important spiritual issue of our day.
How can anyone say that the future of our planet and humanity is NOT a spiritual issue?

It first occurred to me when I began reading R&S that if the Pagans had not been hoodwinked into converting to Christianity thousands of years ago, the Earth would be in better shape. WHY?

Because Pagans revere the Earth and believe they are just another living entity on the planet that we share with all the other life forms. Christians, on the other hand, believe "God gave them" the planet and everything on it, to do with as they wish, to kill and eat all the animals or make purses out of them, to cut all the trees down to build highrises and print porn magazines on, to dig massive craters in the Earth's crust to take all the diamonds, oil and uranium out, and use the water whatever way we want and to whether it's pouring tons of poisons in it or pouring it in a bottle and making people pay for it.

It's not OUR planet. We just squat here.

I believe that yes it is a spiritual issue for those of us on Nature's path but that it is also a problem that all of human kind must address as a whole if we are to ever reverse the problems.
Until we can work as one on this problem then the Earth can not start to heal. Nature can only do so much on it's own at this time. Those of the human race that lead indulgent lives, wasting our natural resources, must realize as we do that the only way to help save ourselves and our planet is to stop being wasteful.
Until then it is 100 against 1,000,000 and it is hard(though not impossible) to win a war that way.

Even if you believe that the Earth is God's creation, again, how is global warming not a spiritual issue?

Would you like it if someone littered on your lawn? If you painted a landscape, would you want someone to throw trash all over it?

God gave us dominion, or stewardship, over Earth. This does not mean we're allowed to exploit Earth to its, and our, detriment. Earth is God's handiwork; let's use it, not abuse it!

However, I consider the economic exploitation of people a more serious issue. However again, these two issues are connected; those who exploit the earth, also exploit people.

It's a human issue.. it affects our physical existence. One doesn't have to be a pagan to understand or appreciate that.

I can agree with you. We are in serious trouble. As someone who spends a lot of time in nature I can attest to changes going on. People are willfully blind in their selfishness.

It's NOT an issue at all....when I was in H.S., Time Magazine had a cover story on "The Coming Ice Age"....

There is no science to back up this current hysteria. Get a grip!!

To the extent that there is no conclusive proof that Global Warming is a) ocurring, b) caused by humans, c) reversible by humans, I'd say it is absolutely a matter of faith.

Well, if it's a spiritual issue, let god sort it out! We humans will not be able to override what god wants anyway, surely???
