My cat's name is Gwen (true name Lady Guinevere Queen of Camelot - no joke!) She's the baby of another cat we've got and she's lived with us forever. She's almost 2 years old now and still eats kitten food. She makes wailing noises all the time and rolls about like some kind of baby. Is it just attention seeking or is something wrong with her? Could she be mentally damaged or something?

Once cats (and dogs) are over 1 year old they can be given adult cat food. Kitten food is too rich for them and can make them fat.

The rolling around and wailing might be a sign that she is in heat, if you haven't gotten her spayed. Keep her away from males. If you want her to stop this behavior, you might want to get her spayed.

If this behavior is concerning you, have her looked at by a vet.

There's really no reason to feed her kitten food unless your vet said to. Kitten chow contains too much fat and protein for a normal adult cat.

My cat rolls around too when he's happy. Many cats roll around to show they are happy. They also do it to stretch and mark their territory. Some cats are more talkative than others.

I don't know about the wailing, though my cat is very verbal and often wails, chirps, you name it, but in our house, rolling on the floor and laying upside down means I want to play. So maybe kitty wants to play with someone.

Is she spayed? Sounds like what a cat does when she's in heat.
