Isn't it interesting that I made a commentary about a song and several people invited me to leave the country. I simply don't care for the song and think America could do much better. (We could do much better in many areas.) I went to war for this country. I got the crap blown out of me in Nam. I fought for your freedoms (people who think I should leave) and I'll be damned if I'll surrender mine when it comes to whether I like the national anthem or not.

Our national anthem is difficult to sing. That is its main drawback. The tune does have a spirit about it and the words have noble sentiments. An honest evaluation would say that several countries have better national anthems and Canada's would not top the list. Most countries have far worse national anthems both musically and lyrically.

Quit yer whining you spineless git! It's about war! WAR!!!! What bloody American can't enjoy that? You think this country just popped up out of some peaceful agreement with dictator George and the locals? Freedom isn't free! No! The price has to be paid in blood - other people's blood! After all, if it was just your own blood lost you'd just be a bleeding loser!! Freedom ain't cheap neither! You sure have to kill a lot of other people to get it!

I agree, but I don't like any of the anthems I've heard.
I can't see why some of your answerers are getting upset about it. It's a freaking anthem!

Did you know that there are more verses to it? Did you know that those verses are VERY Christian?

The current national anthem is NOT appropriate for the United States anymore.

I love our National Anthem. It always invokes strong patriotic feelings in me as I rise and put my hand to my heart.

Seems like we have a fondness for things that come from our wars. The poem is hard to sing and something easier should be made the national anthem.. I'm a female and I can't even hit those high notes...

Think yourself lucky - look at the British national anthem - it is dull and hardly inspiring and upbeat.

That question is just not right. Our Anthem brings a tear to my eye each time I hear it. I think of the lives that were taken for our freedom. If you dont like it go to Canada and see how free you are. No its not the same as it is here. It may seem that way but, its not at all. Peace out................
