What about the people that I love that arent christians. Will they go to hell?? I dont want that to happen! Any advice would be helpful

I became a Christian on my own in my apartment when I was 19 years old (I'm 51 now). I had been going through a time that may be similar to the one you are in which I was seeking the truth. I grew up in a home in which my mother was heavily into the occult, had been an atheist, studied various religions, and was for a while what we would now call a New Ager (yes, all before age 19!). I had a series of events (some quite supernatural) that caused me to think more and more about the Bible and its God. Finally one night I read the Sermon on the Mount. I read the part in which Jesus said "Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you." These words came supernaturally alive in my heart and I KNEW that I could call on God and have an audience with him. For the first time in my life I really, sincerely prayed and it seemed that all of heaven descended upon me. Tears streamed down my face and I wondered why I had waited so long to find something so good. During that time of prayer I ended up committing my whole life to God. I did not know what to call it then, but I had put my faith in the Christ of Scripture and I had gotten saved. I soon realized there were whole buildings full of people who really knew God. God led me in my choice of churches along the way. I am now an ordained Assemblies of God minister.

As for your loved ones, the truth is that we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is salvation in no other name but that of Christ. There is no favoritism and that is why we must pray for our loved ones and tactfully share the new life in Christ with them. I have repeatedly seen dramatic, miraculous conversions of family members (usually one at a time but sometimes several at a time). God loves your family even more than you do. That is why he gave his son on the cross for them. He is pulling for you and your family. So am I.

I encourage you to become a student of the Bible first. Many things are done in the name of Christianity that go directly against Christ's teaching. Look for those who live by God's word and not by dogma or tradition.

As far as hell goes? No. There is no such thing. God is love. Why would a God of love torment forever those whose sins are temporary? For an explanation of the true condition of the dead, please read King Solomon's words at Ecclesiastes 9:5,11, as well as the Apostle Paul's at Romans 6:8.

All the best to you in your search.

First you must get to the reason why you are considering becoming a Christian is it because of peer of society pressuring you, if that is the reason just don't bother. If you really feel a desire to get closer to your savior Jesus Christ then continue in your endeavor.

Also as to the second part of your question, I am afraid no one can accurately answer that question, we just follow what we believe to be guidelines,we certainly do not have the infinite wisdom to determine a person's placement in the afterlife.

Giving your life over to Christ can be a hard decision. I gave my life to Christ 8 years ago, and it was the best decision I ever made. Being a Christian can be really hard sometimes. My mom just died 3 months ago, and with out God I have no clue what I would do. However, being a Christian takes a lot of faith. When other people put down what you believe, you have to stand firm and suffer through it in Christ's name.

Unfortunately, if you have friends or relatives that don't know Jesus they will go to hell unless they accept Jesus. You may think that God is mean to do that but really he isn't. God is holy and pure. He can NOT be around sin. That is why he sent his son (Jesus) to die for us. I'm sure you already know that, but it helps to explain stuff. God loves all of his children, and wants them all to be with him in paradise, but first you have to open your eyes to the truth that Jesus really died and rose again for your sins.

I encourage you to give your life over to Christ right away. Jesus is coming back soon, and you need to tell everyone that you can about the truth you discovered. Jesus is king!

I was raised in a home where we became familiar with quite a few Christian practices, including Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, and Congregationalist. Around 20 years old, I became aware that I would someday have to start taking God seriously, but I thought that wouldn't happen until I was around 40. At 22, a cult approached me about Jesus, and I decided to accept Jesus as savior. I didn't stay with the cult, but I decided to stick with Jesus. I'm now 50.

I believe that Jesus is the Messiah. I believe he is a loving, sacrificing person, and that he is God in the flesh. I hate what the Religious Right and the Republicans have done to the image of Jesus in this country. On the whole, I'm happy with my decision to become a full-fledged Christian, although I'm certainly not happy with all of my circumstances all the time! I trust that God is with me every step of the way, walking me through.

For those people whom you love who aren't Christians: the Bible tells us that as far as it is within our power, get along with everybody. It also says to love God, love your neighbor as yourself, and love your enemies. Tell them about Jesus and invite them to invite him into your lives, but don't browbeat them or keep on shaming them all the time. That's trying to win them with fear, not love. And of course, pray for them!

Isn't the only valid reason for becoming a christian that you believe in the 'one true god'??? Why would you need to ask others for their reasons?

Please do more research about other religions. I'm confident you can find something else you'll be happier with.
