A glaze made from confectioners sugar, butter and lemon juice would be best for lemon cake. Or you could use a standard recipe and substitute the vanilla called for with lemon extract.

No frosting! Make a syrup using 3 and 1/3 (100grams) of Caster Sugar and 1/3 cup of lemon juice. Put them in a small pan and stir over a low heat until melted together. Keep it warm.
Make some holes with a skewers all over the cake and pour the syrup over the hot cake.

i would eat it & I am sure that it will taste good, still is ot the best choice cause both flavors are dominant and they dont compliment each other, so vanilla, coconut, lavander, rum flavor frosting are better choices
