As long as Satan was being sincere and was indeed repentant, wouldn't God have to forgive him? Where would that leave christianity? How would Christians then explain why bad things happen to good people?

Of course, I understand this is all hypothetical, but I'm just interested in everyone's various opinions.

So far, I really appreciate all of your very honest and inciteful answers. However, if you don't know what the word "HYPOTHETICAL" means, please find another question to answer. . .

Yes, jess4rsake, but I'm speaking in hypotheticals.

Here is another hypothetical:

An angel appeared to me last night and told me that Satan had renounced his kingdom. He was indeed truly repentant and understood what pain he had caused God's children throughout the millenia, and was prepared for God's judgement on him. He said that if God would not forgive him and accept him as a servant once more, then he would submit to God's wrath and be destroyed forever. The Angel told me that I was supposed to spread the word that Satan no longer existed. . . .

The point is, let's discuss "what if". All of you who start out by saying "That would never happen" are not paying attention.

*drink* This gets asked at least 2 or 3 times a week. And Satan wouldn't do that for the very reason he rebelled in the first place - he could see god wanted to deprive humanity of freedom to live life to the full, and that's exactly what happened. As a Satanist I know exactly why Satan hates god and would never ask forgiveness.

There is a point at which satan could not turn to God just like a lot of people on earth.

Hypothetically, it does sound like a person or satan could repent, but in fact they do not have the power over their own thoughts and mindsets to have a sincere repentance. It's a bad situation to be in.

2 Cor 4:2-4
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
(from New International Version)

John 8:42-47

42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

Satan, in order to be capable being of forgiven, would need be capable of doing 3 things: (1) Be sorry for his sin because it offended God, and not because he feared punishment; (2) commit to never to sin again; (3) Make reparation for his sin by becoming such a champion of virtue that it outweighed all the evil he had done.

There can never be anything but the strictest judgment with angels. This is because they were created as their own representatives, whereas Adam was created with God already having planned the second "Adam", Jesus, to serve as His representative. Additionally, as angelic beings are pure intellect, their knowledge is entirely immediate and intuitive. Man's intellect is analytical, and his culpability for his actions is tempered by this limitation.

In my opinion God is of coarse only human....and by that I mean since technically if we are made by his image than we would be thinking the way he wants. And the way would be like...well you know when someone you're upset with you just can't automatically forgive them it takes time. And God of coarse has feelings...yes I did just say that don't mock me. So I'm sure in time after some apologies and such Go and Satan will find peace somewhere because I believe God isn't just some 'mighty smiter' ready to kill anyone who crosses him, he's a guy who believes in love and peace which he did come up with so....I think he would give Satan a second chance. Yeah, you might say I'm naive, but I could say you make things too complicated than they really are. I'm catholic btw if curious

The nature of Satan was falsehood. Satan was said to have tried to cause rebellion in heaven which is why he was cast down from his position as God's "light bearer" (hence, the name Lucifer). From that time on he lied against God and he has lied to mankind to cause sin and disobediance to God's word. Satan is NOT GOING TO ask for forgiveness because Satan is his own god and the god of this world. He has no place in heaven because he already rejected God when they were all in heaven before the foundation of the world..

If there was a true repentance I would think God would however satan isn't a human so I don't believe he qualifies. We don't have the answers to all the reasons why things happen. Sometimes it's our sin, sometimes our will gets in the way and we mess ourselves up.

According to Prophet Daniel what is written must be fulfilled. In Satan's heart is not planted eternity in contrast to men whom eternity were planted in their hearts. And this is the spirit of guarantee such that the natural men will be born in the spirit and become angel-like in the soon coming kingdom of heaven. Satan was according to the divine plan will live for only a shoart span of time not eternity. It is because, Satan is the ruler of this material world; and THE LORD JESUS CHRIST said No flesh would glory. And to dust you came from to dust you shall return and thus, satan was not given the spirit of forgiveness and repentance as written in the BOOK OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL. But to the spirit, to the spirit you came from to the Spirit you shall return. Thus, only the spiritual men will inherit the glory according to the divine plan. Likewise, the spirit of satan was created from the mud of the earth while his demons were created from the clay of the earth. Satan would never ask for forgiveness, because he was a perfect being who purposefully went against God. There was no turning back from that.

Okay, hypothetically, though...I think God would forgive him if he was sincere.

You won't get anywhere with that question. All they'll do is go around it and say that Satan would never repent and god would never forgive him.

I for one don't need to blame some made up demon for my wrong doings.
