Generally, they will use software like Adobe Photoshop, and certain plug-ins you can download for the to soften features and such.
It is not an automatic process. They don't just take a picture, click a button, and POOF the model looks prettier.
It's an expensive piece of software, but you can get a different program that is very similar called G.I.M.P.

i use Adobe Photoshop for picture editing... Lots of thing that you can try with it.. However it might look complicated at first but dont worry.... there's a lot of free tutorials that you can find in the web to assist you... Have a nice day!
