Is it illegal to notify "friends" of a Sex Offender via MySpace? So, say sex offender Bob Jones has a MySpace page... would it be illegal to message everyone on his friends list with the link to his sex offender profile and his MySpace profile??

He is already registered as a sex offender and it is public record so as long as you are not stating anything untrue you should not have a problem, if you know the database he is listed in you could post a link maybe.....there are a lot of children on there.....check with the myspace people first and ask to make sure before you do anything

I suspect that his friends already know since his MySpace is a public profile.
If you believe they do not know he is a sex offender then I would not email them to state this fact but send them a link to his page with the message "Did you know this about Bob Jones". Otherwise you could be up for libel or slander.

As long as you're not telling untruths about someone that can hurt their business or personal lives, then feel free to put it out there.

You wouldn't be saying anything that is false or that isn't already public information so I wouldn't see why that would be bad.
