I really find it difficult to believe that we have evolved from primitive organisms. This picture that my friend linked me
(http://data2.blog.de/media/976/745976_ec6ba813b8_m.gif)
was truly terrifying. Does the theory of evolution blatantly state that humans evolved from apes? If so, where can I find some resources or text that has this information documented?

Thank you all in advance.

P.S.
I am not trying to support my "negative bias" of evolution by posting this question in R&S. Also, I believe in nothing.
Do not question uncertainties is my moral. However, I am just a bit curious with the subject matter.

Evolutionists don't want to admit that the theory says that people evolved from apes.
They'll tell you that the theory of evolution says that people and modern apes both evolved from a common ancestor. Textbooks about evolution even say this, even though the real theory (which evolutionists all believe but don't admit to) says that fish became apes, which became humans.
However, Creationists are the only ones who know that the theory of evolution says this. Most believers of evolution think that it says that apes and humans have a common ancestor, because this is what they learn in school.

1) I'm sorry you have trouble accepting the truth. Do you have trouble accept electricity? How about superconductors? Obviously not - you're using a computer. Odds are you've been vaccinnated, so you're already using the results of evolution as it applies to modern biology.

2) Humans ARE apes. Humans, modern apes, and monkeys all evolved from a common ancestor.

As for other resources - there are hundreds of biology journals on the subject of evolution. Try going to the local university library. Or maybe even taking a class.

I say it's all just lies and deception. I mean, they aren't gonna find a cure for cancer or anything from belief in something like that, right?

I think it all just starts as little kids. They are told one thing and they stick to it. Impressionable and they don't want to think that mommy and daddy were possibly wrong or whatnot, so it's easy to put things in just a black and white perspective, right? Evolution is real or it isn't right? That's what they say, sure! But it's lies! LIES! They don't really know anything! Why, if they had bothered to read more and study more, they'd figure it out, but instead they just go with what they were told and spout this nonsense to the rest of us!

Had they bothered to read anything at all, they'd know that evolution says that humans evolved from CHIMPANZEES, not APES! So right there you know they didn't bother to do their homework! Bunch of stinking liar fake scientists!

That picture is not accurate.

http://evolution.berkeley.edu/ It's pretty much an evolution for dummies primer.

You can also go to your local library and find any number of texts on the subject.

I've never seen an evolutionary theory text, paper, or instruction that says man comes from monkeys, however, australopithicus is sometimes referred to as an ape. It's also noted that apes and humans have a common ancestor.

The Theory of Evolution is both true and false. God did create a pure breed of mankind, which he placed in the garden. However at the same time and through the natural process of evolution there were other species which were similar to mankind that also roamed the earth. God destroyed those other species during the great flood and by the hand of the pure breed of mankind which had superior intelligence. I hope this helps. Best Regards, M.G.S.

Is a site on Human Evolution.

Uh, we ARE apes -- or at least, we're primates.

You've never heard any of this before?

You might find it less difficult to believe if you learned about it.

There are also books.

I recommend The Blind Watchmaker (Richard Dawkins), and the Reflections on Natural History series (starting with Ever Since Darwin) by Stephen Jay Gould.

People didn't evolve from apes, hon. No scientist ever would tell you that....... they are as modern as you are... You just need a few courses in history, and sophomore biology. The process of evolution is beautifully simple, now that we know what DNA is, how heredity works, genes, and chromosomes, and the rest of it.

Read The God Delusion if you read well, or Why Darwin Matters, or God Is Not Great--how religion poisons everything. All are heavy duty books and assume some sophistication in your education. If you believe in folk lore and fairy tales still, wait a few years... the books are too much for you. In the meantime, watch The Discovery Channel, read Scientific American, Nature, The National Geographic, The Science Channel, or go sit in a corner and wait for god to strike you dead. What ever makes more sense to you.............

Apes and humans evolved from a common ancestor.

Here is an overview of evolution followed by an overview of creationism:

This is the home page for talkorigins, which provides great information on evolution and common descent as well as discussions about creationist arguments:

Here is a list of debunked creationist claims:

Good luck.

Go to a library. You can read The Origins Of Species or something else.

There are clearly many creationists who are happy to give you all sorts of propaganda as to why evolution can't be true. Did you ask that question in R&S so that others who share your negative bias could reinforce it for you?
