There has been a divide with some claiming Horus had a father and some other recent theories claim he was born from a virgin both (particurly held by those who believe in astrotheonomy that books such as the bible are allegorical for the constellations and movements of the heavens). What is the truth?

Isis had sex with Osiris when he was dismembered and his essence was in the spirit world so he was born to a dead father not a virgin mother.

On the other hand his father wasn't REALLY dead as he was a God and therefore immortal.Osiris reappeared later in Egyptian mythology-I guess he just needed time to literally pull himself together.

Most all of the Heroes before Jesus were said to have been born of virgin mothers. Horus was included along with Mythra. In the old testament Sampson's mother was also a young virgin. When Matthew, Mark, Luke and John started to write about Jesus over 40 years after his death, they needed to authenticate his godly status, so they decided his mother needed to be a virgin too. Paul wouldn't take it quite that far when he started writing though because it sounded to Mythric.

I was under the impression that he was born via artificial insemination. Maybe I have my egyptology mythological timeline mixed up and Horus was concieved before Set hacked Osiris into bits.

the Horus myth almost follows the Jesus stuff in every major respect. some Christan's say the devil created Horus to discredit the coming of the Christ child by making it look like Christ was a rip off of the Horus story with no credibility. personally i think all religion is a human construct and don't pat attention to ant belief other than thinking wow that's interesting isn't humanity wonderful that we can invent such amazing tales

No. According to ancient Egyptian mythology, his birth was miraculous in that his father, Osiris, was dead when his mother, Isis, conceived. The story goes that after Osiris was killed, Isis found the pieces of his dead body, put it back together, and had sex with it.

The virgin birth of Horus has been invented ONLY in the last couple decades.

Actually, if I remember the story correctly, Osiris was dismembered --- and his body parts spread all over the world. Isis had to find them all, and put him together so that she could have a child. There must be several sites where you can find the entire story.

If you do some quick research you will find most gods before Jesus were born from virgins, many were born on the 25th of December (Jesus was not), many performed miracles, had wise men, 12 appostles, the star in the sky etc. Just another proof religion is man made. For that matter not even all 4 of the accepted gospels say mary was a virin either

The truth is that Satan loves to counterfeit everything that God does. Semiramus (if I spelled that correctly) coveted worship and the power thereby and after Nimrod died she got pregnant and claimed the child to be divinely begotten from the sun, which is where she claimed Nimrod descended to. This is where the origion of mother/child worship came from, that is so dominant in the Roman Catholic Church and other various religions.
