Perhaps its the gulf between saying and doing. Voltaire (love that guy) was French. It's understood there that so much hot wind being spoken ammounts to nothing when actions is required. Maybe he meant the cliche's people use. He's trying to talk serious philosophy and someone pipes in with 'look on the bright side of life' by Monty Python.(song at end of Life of Brian)

The poetics of clever words or mere existential. WE are becoming more and more a world of empirical experiences rather than reason. The age of reason is over... it is all about the illusion. The illusion created from words are left to the connection and references of the reader to recreate for themself. But, it is better to reflect upon life... than death.

Quote shoud be catchy, precise and true. Quote has to corrosponse to reality to make more sense.
