Several things could be the matter.
Do you have another cat? Do they share the same box? If so, get 1 box per cat.
Have you changed the litter brand lately? Could be that. If not, maybe it IS the litter. My cat's hate the scoop stuff, the pellets and the generic brands. I usually get the Tidy Cat. Even if you don't have multiple cat's, get that kind because it will last longer and control odors too.
Cat is doing this to get your attention, to let you know something is not right. You might want to wash your cat box out with just soap and water, no bleach. Or get a new one as well. I change mine every 6 months.
Keep an eye on the kitty, after all this if it keeps doing it, then call a vet. See what they recommend.
To help get the odors/stains out, use Natures Miracle (in the red and white bottle), you can get it at Petco/Petsmart/Petland. It works the best.

how old is your cat? this is a factor
second, you should definently take the cat to the vet to make sure it does not have a urinary tract infection or something else that could be causing this.
third...if everything checks out at the vet...clean the areas:
-through out all items (if possible) that have urine etc on it...blankets, rugs etc
-clean the remaining areas, (including walls and baseboards) with soap and water, rinse and allow to dry.
-spray the dried areas generously with Nature's Miracle (for Cats Only)---you can get this at your pet supply store. Allow this to dry as well. You may need to re-apply the spray at least another time.
--if there are no medical problems with the cat, the last step is now to re-train your cat to the litter box.
Good luck.

based on what you say, so to speak, your kittie is unhappy [about something]
by the time it's reached the poopers-everywhere phase, there's already a hard black line drawn down the middle of it--just as when 2 adults are locked in a disagreement...
it's unlikely you can figure out what started the INCIDENT and, by now, you're unhappy that the cat's unhappy that you're unhappy that the cat's unhappy...
I've learned from lots of sources to get a large enough cage to hold the kittie and a cat box...kitties will not poop in their own "front-" or "backyard"...
I've kept kitties in there up to 2 wks (I adopt all ages)...you will know "when" as soon as the pooping stops...I have this huge cage (I can fit in) and I drape it with sheets to match my bed, when not in use, as a decorative piece of furniture...
I know I've been told 2wks and I thought that was mean somehow, but it does seem to take that long in a cat 5-6yrs or older...
as long as the stool is not runny and there's no blood in it, and there's no vomiting with diarrhea, it's not a medical-doctor veterinarian issue...it'll probably happen twice in a kittie's life...
now that you what to look for it, maybe you can figure out what it is at the first sign of trouble and be able to correct it with lots and lots of treats

placed your kitty in a small room IE a bathing room , closet , a storage room, in spite of. save her in there for some days together with her water and nutrition AND her clutter container. which could do the trick. My mom has a Persian whose problem became precisely the comparable as this. This solved her problem interior of a few days. If this does not help then that's recommended to look into changing her clutter. sometime cats have this strange determination with stuff like that. She could choose another form or maybe another form of clutter. wish this enables!

We have a dog that has just doing the same thing. We
took her to a Vet's office where they did all things to give
us a reason of new behavior, X ray revealed that the dog
had tiny stones in her bladder that were coming from her
liver. She is too old to stand surgury for relief, but the Vet
gave us a medicine which will desolve such liver stones
and our dog would go back to going out to wet.

Sometimes it's happened if you move to new place (and everything smells stranger to them) or if you got another pet and they smell that new smell in house and go crazy... If non of that - she probably suffering some psychological disorder - like depression (yeah, they have psychology too)... Make sure you spend enough time with her and show her some love, maybe take her to back yard to have a little sun...

take her to the vet. she may have colitis. i had one that did this. she seemed to go whenever the need came upon her.
the vet prescribed a fiber supplement (like metamucil). that helped.
please look into this with a professional. she may not seem sick, but if this is unusual behavior, something is causing it.
(Unless, have you had any major changes in her life lately? sometimes they do that if they are angry).

maybe check with the vet, she probably needs to be spaded, sometimes animals spray, this means she is "marking" her spot, and when i say spray that means she urinates, so have her spaded, if she isn't already.
