To lose weight permanently you need to change your attitude about food. Some fad diets can help you lose weight faster but people who do that just yo-yo and regain the weight. 40 # will take about 9-10 months. Sticking to a healthy diet is the best course. Look up the Food pyramid on the net and eat lots of fruit and veggies, limit your meat and fat intake, snack only on fruit, nuts. You can also use Slimfast one or twice a day and then have one meal- forget about snack food and get exercise daily. Walking is free.

How do you want to loose them? Liposuction ? I think that you don't want that.
I suggest you to go to the gym/fitness and ask the instructor to make you a diet and a fitness plan...
There's a girl in my class...For the summer she lost 15 pounds like that ...
But 40 - why do you want to loose so much ...
Edit : By the way , you haven't said if you're a boy or a girl. If you're a boy it'll be much easier. For a few months most of the weight would be either lost of made in muscles :-D . Good luck

Losing weighing is short-term goal. You should be focusing on living a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, I would suggest that you diet, exercise, and connect/spend time with positive people. It is not enough to say I want to lose weight, but you must cultivate a "lose" the bad things in life perspective. Once you are on the right path, your entire life will change for the better and the weight will come off and stay off. Good living!

Well! It all depends on you and how serious you are, where there is a will there is a way.
One thing you have to know is, DO NOT go to the grocery stores, no restaurants, no looking at any cook books or recipes, avoid thinking of foods.
You have to have a strong will power, eat food with low calories, work out for one hour on tread mill.........lol

if you do anything but watch tv ,and eat nothing , loose 40 pounds or more is very easy !

Take a laxative and water pills every day for 40 days. I tried it it works . I did it for 3 months but my butt hole is still sore.
