Both... theists don't comprehend god and believe, atheists do comprehend it and, thus, don't believe...

...and I'm sure both find comfort in their own comprehension (or lack thereof).

Believers. People cannot comprehend anything about God. This quote demonstrates the hopelessness of discussing God's existence with someone of faith. At the same time it discusses the infinity of God and his power compared to false idols!

for an atheist the quote probably has no meaning since the word god is involved.

For the believer it tells that doubts are allowed and thus gives comfort.

That way, when atheists ask me a question I cannot answer about God, I can use this quote !!

Of course, there are quotes from the Bible I can use also, but atheists don't like Bible quotes.

Not really. I don't believe that God exists, so it makes no difference to me whether or not someone THINKS they comprehend Him.
