they need time to adjust, it will probably work out. I'm sure the cat is annoyed because there is an intruder in her space!

Make sure the cat has a safe place to run to to hide (i.e. bedroom, basement) where the puppy cannot follow. If you have a baby gate, put the cat on one side and the puppy on the other so they can investigate each other without complete access.

Make sure you still pay a lot of attention to the cat, so she doesn't get jealous.

Be patient. I'm sure there will be at best a nice relationship, at worst an uneasy peace.

Good luck!

Keep them apart for a week, allowing them only to see each other from a distance, like behind a balcony door. The following week, allow them to smell each other's stuff, when the other one is not there. Or your hands after you've touched the other. The third week allow them to smell each other a few times every day, but while holding them. After all the hissing and anger has stopped, allow them near each other, under supervision. Do that when you feed them, so that they both associate meeting with food, a good thing. Just make sure they don't quarrel over the food, feed them each their own favourite. The cat will have to beat the puppy up, but just make sure there are no injuries. After about a month they will learn to get along, hopefully.

good thing you got a puppy, now it can get use to the cat and the cat can get used to the puppy.

take it slow. first let them smell something that the other uses a lot, then later let them meet on a leash. if something goes wrong u can get the one on the leash to let go b/c they will not be able to attack. it will just take time
