If you are talking about the clear/whitish colour things stuck to the shaft of the hair near the scalp, they aren't alive now, but will be when they hatch. They are nits and that is the egg of the louse. They need to be removed or once hatched, lice will be multiplying like crazy. My daughter had lice 2 years ago and it is a really hard thing to get rid of. Vigilant shampooing and nit picking, washing bedding, bagging stuffed animals, vacuuming, boiling combs, brushes, etc. It was 3 weeks of hell, but please don't ignore anything that is in your child's hair that shouldn't be there.

i am a professional nitpicker in nyc and i have helped 100s of families eliminate headlice and nits over the years:
get a good finetooth metal comb like Licemeister or Terminator. Smother hair with a thick conditioner. Take thin sections hair and comb the hair out, strand by strand. 3-4 thorough comb-out would eliminate lice and nits permanently. this is the safest and surest method. also watch video @ www.headlice.org about how to do the comb-out. good luck!

You will need to retreat your son, from the 1st step and follow the directions to the letter. You must also treat bed linens and pillows etc,and other articles of clothing that may also be contaminated. You need to treat any other family members having close contact with him. Throw out old combs and hairbrushes, and do not share these items. The "nymphs" are newly hatched, and will become adults quickly.Wash all contaminated articles in hot water and dry using high heat,or sunshine.Take care. SW RNP

try using tea tree oil. . . . you can get it in the vitamin aisle at wal mart, it will help get rid of the nymphs. The shampoo just gets rid of the eggs.

Perhaps you didn't follow through on the directions. You have to follow through and get them as they go into their different stages, maybe you missed one stage, you'll have to start over again, do it right this time and be careful.
