You challenge that God created us in his image, because you see it as narcissistic. Have you ever considered though...that our BODY is not the thing that is in His image...but your soul?

Where in the Bible does it talk about God's appearance? Nowhere, that's where. He is an infinite consciousness, existing beyond time and space...why would he have need to take a physical form? You take things too mucj out of context!Think of God as abbreviated into this form....a G.O.D. (Guiding Organizing Designing) process, if you will.

And how could the Earth have been created by chance? Here is a test:

The next time you do your laundry, throw your clothes up in the air. Big mess.
Do it again. Do it about a billion more times. Will the laundry ever land in a folded manner? No.

All of the responses so far either speak nothingness, go around in a circle, or are a personal attack...but it's still open.

Heh...same as always....no one on the internet is able to discuss things rationally, without personal attacks, or arguments that actually make sense.

This question will end up deleted before long.

A thing to consider, Atheists: It was your choice to look at and answer this question as much as it was my choice to post it.

This inquiry is one that just questions why you believe what you believe....nothing more. I didn't ask for personal interjections...or insults to Christianity. This shows me a very overwhelming lack of maturity....and comfort in your own beliefs to so zealously defend them.

I know what I believe and have no need to defend it. I simply presented a possibility for you to consider.

You basically just have defeated yourselves.

The best answer has nothing to do with agreeing with me...

I think it was everyone's biggest mistake to ASSUME that my beliefs matched my question. (when in fact I am entirely neutral. I ask Christians questions as well)

i really dont understand what you are trying to get at?

god created man in his own image - who says that this doesnt mean that god gave man his own image, rather then giving him somebody elses... as in not gods image, but mans own image.. as in man is like no other.

the earth is like an atom, its just a round ball floating around in empty space. the diference between this ball and another ball is the sun, and the sun is what causes the ball to start living, so there are other balls out there without suns, that are not living yet, because they do not have a sun.
and also, just like atoms, many balls combine to form molecules (solar systems in this case). and just like atoms and molecules miraculously work, so does our universe, because they are the same exact thing, only diferent "dimension". the maraculous working of these objects is because of god, and though we know what everything is and call it science, science is generally just mans way of explaining god... the main problem with this is that when we, as men, find an answer to something we used to call god, we then stop calling it god, and why? because we know... thats stupid because it still is GOD!!!

nothing happens by "chance", not even the weather.... everything has a reason.

The way scriptures describe 'creation' is a Myth. However, we all know that everything living thing, has a beginning. So, I suggest we try to learn how to combine science and religious faith.
Since, the Bible does say that 'creation sings of His Glory'.

Christians all say that the world was created in six days, AND the Bible says 'one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as one day'.

According to the scientific conversion of time = Each second of our time is equivalent to 53,000 years. The Big Bang is estimated to have occurred 13.7 Billion years (or just Three of our days) ago.

Now let's see what happens if we take the time (in Bibical days) that it took G-d to create everything and plot it into the approximated conversion time.

13.7 Billion Multiplied by 2 = 27400000000 (or 27.4 Billion years).

That is how science AND faith can be integrated into our lives. So, now as a Christian, I am not ashamed to say that the earth is 27.4 Billion years old!

Science is the foundation upon which G-d built all things.

WHY might you utilize the words "atheist" and "creationist" interchangeably? the two words have easily no longer something in consumer-friendly. a million) Society and human beings create and take care of morality. faith is not sensible for that, and this is not any longer some thing that is legislated. From Biblical cases, up till the late 1800's contained in u.s., slavery exchange into seen ethical. Now this is not any longer. Mutilating the genitals of babies remains seen ethical by some human beings. Others evaluate it toddler sexual abuse. 2) Sin is in basic terms a Biblical theory. As such, it does not word to or contain every person yet Jews and Christians. 3) Evil is a Biblical theory, too. As such, it does not truly exist, different than in the context of the (fictional) Bible. As an atheist, i individually think of that a God who drowns, plagues, and slaughters tens of millions (greater desirable than Hitler) and persistently instructions his followers to kill human beings, is the epitome of evil, yet Christians curiously think of all it somewhat is 'love'. 4) everybody is greater often than not good. it somewhat is a human theory that has no longer something to do with faith. i've got by no potential study, and have no desire or ought to study, the artwork of an atheist author or theorist. My ideas and ideology are my own.

Posting a science question in the religion and spirituality section often means the asker does not really want an answer. His goal is to ask a question that he believes proves some scientific knowledge to be wrong, or that science does not yet answer, and make the implicit claim that the only other explanation is a god, and specifically, the same god he happens to believe in.

It's the "god of the gaps" - intellectually bankrupt, since it favors ignorance instead of knowledge, and because of the contained logical fallacy.

However, on the off chance that you really want to know the answer:
You seem to know so little about science you call gravity

Where is the empirical proof a soul exists? There is none just as there is no empirical proof a deity exists. You can say what you like but creationism is baseless when it comes to hard evidence; it is something you have to take on faith.

Complexity does not require a designer. Nature in and of itself is complex and yes I know you will turn around and say because it was created that way because that is what you ~wish~ to believe.

"Think of God as abbreviated into this form....a G.O.D. (Guiding Organizing Designing)"

Well that's funny. I heard the word G.O.D. stood for Governor Operator Destroyer.

Anyway, why do some of you use the same tired line that God is
"infinite, existing beyond time and space..etc" when you haven't bothered to answer the simple question of "Who or what made God"? I find it hard to accept the concept of an all powerful being making the whole universe when he/it him/itself doesn't have a designer of their own.

Ah FYI: god has appear to people as mentioned in the bible. the burning bush for example.

Evolution is fact
Creation is fairy-tale

You say that things by chance are not possible and therefore claim that it was god.

OK So where did god come from?
Who created god?

What? You do not know? So you mean to tell me that you do not believe in evolution because it is by chance and yet believe in creation due to a god who BY CHANCE has always been here.

Hmmm.....

I thought G.O.D stood for Guaranteed overnight delivery

Well, you've changed my mind. Not.

So you guys now have an acronym to go along with your story, that doesn't impress me much.

Anyway, go to the science section if you really want to learn. Spread your hate somewhere else.

Also, if god created the soul in his image, and the soul doesn't exist, what does that say about the existence of god?

your additional comments imply that you've read responses. You write: "All of the responses so far either speak nothingness, go around in a circle, or are a personal attack...but it's still open"

you are the one deliberately mischarcterizing others (your first sentence). therefore, mischaracterizing others' responses does you no aid, my friend.

you received some intelligent, thoughtful responses, but either aren't willing to read them, or cannot understand anything that falls outside of the context of your belief system.

Note their(atheists answering this question) answers... All they do is ask for proof of the existance of God. They are in effect saying, "Come down here and prove to me you exist" They are asking God who created the whole universe and everything in it to come down and prove to them that he is real. See how self-centered they are? They warp science to promote their opinions and beliefs. They will tell you they follow no religion but THEY have not one shread of proof that God doesn't exist--all they have is FAITH. They will angrily argue their point. When you show them scientific logic for the existance of a creator they will resort to name calling; to saying that you don't know science. They may even be childish enough to ask the question a 5 yr old asks, "If God is real then who created God?" What they are in effect doing is saying that God is confined to our uni-directional; uni-dimensional time line. For us time is 1 dimensional and only goes forward. In order for God to be outside of our reality he must exist in a multidimensional, multidirectional time-space. Imagine a 2-d cartesian gragh of time. In this instance time would be a plane. If god was in a 2-d time plane he could be on our time line if he wished or not. He wouldn't be bound to our time line at all. And as such he could always have been and always will be--sound familiar?
You can't reason with these people. They know it all. They are so smart, and you are superstitious for believing in God. "He is a fairy tale to control the ignorant masses" they will say. Don't let them bother you or sway your knowledge of the truth. God created the universe and everything in it. Let them rant on...for all the good it will do them in the end. "One day every knee will bend and confess you are God"--the Bible
