Depends how much patience you have :)
From my personal experience with Vista- it wasn't worth it.

-Performance terrible- it chugs down whole bunch of space!
-Boots almost as twice as XP does
-Troubles everywhere with application- warnings, errors, blocks off....it's simply got a mind of it's own....
- Unstable with any software but the latest versions

Those are just FEW things....I can go on for days :)

Unless you just want to see the overpriced over glossy 3D flip and go back to previous OS, I wouldn't recommend it.

Good luck! :)

Coley- I am afraid I am the exception.
I read and hear everyone say that Vista is S..T and slow, crashes, etc etc
but i gotta tell you my new computer came with it and I push it to the limit and multi task to the max. I am also a developer.
I, luckily, have not had any problems (yet)..
don't know what i am doing different...but I sure would go with the majority...DO NOT CHANGE to the Vista OS until absolutely necessary...remember patch #01 has not come out yet....so...there you have it.
I also bought a book on Vista (just in case).
just a side note---you might want to visit you local bookstore and sit and read a bit about it before making your decision...but here is mine...if this thing had not come with it...it would not had been my choice.
good luck

premium is much better than basic. I think it okay you can go for it. The new updated will gradually remove the bugs. Its not that annoying as you may think, after all its from the world leaders. The bugs are more on security level or minor compatibilty issues.
And don't forget you are getting a FREE upgrade.

I just bought an Acer 5610 and it is preloaded with Vista. It is ok, but I would stick with XP if Vista is not preloaded. There is existing hardware you may have for which there are no drivers written yet for Vista.

Go for it.

I have Vista and it keeps crashing but instead of the start button there's this cool MS Logo that lights up when your mouse over it so yeah it's worth all of the bugs and all of the crashing.

Nah seriously upgrade, my computer crashes because of viruses and stuff because I download tons of stuff, before I started downloading it already had Vista and it worked perfectly, go for it.

I would wait it out and stick with XP. I don't see how Vista could help the average computer user significantly.

what awhile so they get the bugs out . the major other issue is alot of your programs that you bought won`t work.
